The Great Outdoors – HK Activities!
Now that we’re finally entering the cooler (more enjoyable) months, what better time to experience Hong Kong’s great outdoors. There’s no shortage of fun and unusual activities to get stuck into in HK and to help make choosing easier, we’ve come up with a few of our favourites bound to make for a memorable day.
Wakeboarding / Wakesurfing

This trend has really taken off here this summer and it’s not too late to get involved. With various spots around Hong Kong to choose from – Tai Tam and Sai Kung to name a few. There are plenty of companies offering an afternoon out at sea giving you the opportunity to try something slightly different. Whether you’re a pro or a first-timer, it’s a day of entertainment for all!
Kayaking or Paddleboarding

If wakeboarding sounds a little too strenuous, and you’re after something tranquil, Kayaking or Paddleboarding in the pristine waters of Sai Kung is another brilliant activity to change up the usual weekend plans. You can either freestyle and do your own thing or join a group tour. For any yogis out there, paddleboard yoga is a thing and we recommend checking it out!
Sanpan

Hong Kong has no shortage of beaches, but finding a secluded one with beautiful waters and white sand can still be tricky. With holidays still very much on hold, we’re all craving those holiday feels. This is where sanpans come in to save the day. Hire one out for the full day, and you’ll be able to reach the untouched beaches only accessible by boat. Grab the esky and head out for a full day of fun.
Dolphin Watching

Who knew dolphin watching was even a thing in Hong Kong? Well, it is, and they’re pink! Get up close and personal with these amazing animals in their natural habitat by jumping on a tour with Hong Kong DolphinWatch. The trip lasts around three to four hours and if no dolphins are spotted during the tour, then the next tour is on them!
Rock Climbing

One for the thrill seekers – Hong Kong has an abundance of options for places to go rock climbing and now the humid summer months are coming to an end, it’s the perfect time to enjoy an outdoor adventure. One of the best spots is Cape Collision where you can enjoy incredible coastal views whilst you climb.
Canyoning

Go a step further than rock climbing with an adrenaline-fuelled activity which not only involves climbing but also navigating through rapids, jumping into pools and abseiling down waterfalls. Canyoning is not for the faint-hearted!
Sailing

We know junk boats are great fun but why not mix it up and take it to the next level by hiring a yacht. Perfect for special occasions, or even just a treat for getting through a summer of no holidays. If you’re looking to get serious, check out the sailing courses available at the many yacht clubs around HK.
