Netflix Your Way Through Self-Isolation

Nest Property

We currently find ourselves in a time when Netflix seems to be the saving grace. During self-isolation it’s a welcome distraction to keep you occupied whilst you’re stuck inside. To help you out, we’ve put together a list of some of our favourites currently available to stream — these are a must-watch!

Castaway

With Tom Hanks being one of the first celebrities announced to have COVID-19, this film comes at quite an appropriate time. If Tom Hanks can manage isolation to the extreme in Castaway, then you’ve got nothing to worry about! Anyone got their own Wilson yet?

Tiger King

The docu-series that has the whole world talking, especially with all the brilliant memes that have followed. Murder, mayhem and madness follows the life of Joe Exotic AKA ‘The Tiger King’, a middle-aged mullet sporting zookeper (amongst other absurd ‘professions’) and his ongoing feud with animal activist Carole Baskin. It may sound strange (mainly because it is), but you will not regret starting on this one!

Sex Education

A British show following the lives of teenagers in their college years figuring out how to navigate hormones and sexual encounters. A light-hearted and easy watch, this series ticks all the boxes without being too cheesy.

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood

A new addition to the ever-expanding Netflix library. Quentin Tarantino’s latest film, set in late 1960s Hollywood follows the story of faded actor Rick Dalton (Leonardo Dicaprio), alongside his stunt double (Brad Pitt), striving to find fame and success in the industry. Rick also happens to live next door to the famous movie director Roman Polanski and his wife Sharon Tate, played by Margot Robbie. In his ninth film, Tarantino merges fact with fiction to keep you on your toes.

Pandemic

Did Netflix get a tip-off about this virus? We won’t go into too much detail about the curious timing of this docu-series, but this is definitely one for you if you’d like to see how the world has dealt with past pandemics.

Love is Blind (shamefully addictive!)

If you haven’t watched it already, this show will have you cringing, and binging. A ‘social experiment’ where contestants go on dates in self-contained pods, get engaged without ever seeing each other and move in together all within a month! Once you start you won’t stop, and we don’t blame you, we’ve got to see who gets married after all the drama!

Derry Girls

A hilarious comedy about the lives of five teenage friends growing up in Derry, Northern Ireland during the years of The Troubles. There are currently two series of this laugh-out-loud sitcom available to stream with a third on the way, so get caught up if you’re not already.

Our Planet

There’s something rather soothing about watching nature and of course listening to Sir David Atenborough. This multimillion-dollar series took four years to film with more than 600 crew members and footage from 50 countries. Experience the upclose natural beauty of our planet and the impacts of climate change on the world’s living creatures.
