New Restaurants to Try This August
Get your tastebuds ready because we are about to dish up the latest and hottest new restaurants to open up in Hong Kong. There’s a little something for everyone.
1. PLAA

Named after “fish” in Thai, Plaa is a contemporary seafood centric restaurant with Thai influences in collaboration with Hong Kong-born chef Richie Lin and chef Ian Kittichai from Bangkok. The menu is built around fresh seafood and produce that reflect seasonality and sustainability. Herbs, spices and sauces which are the core of traditional Thai cuisine are used to let the vibrant seafood flavours shine through. At the helm of Plaa’s kitchen is chef Santipap Tonkanya (Tor) from Bangkok, who aspires to share his passion for Thai cooking and deliver a genuine yet modern dining experience.

2. GLASSHOUSE BY ASAYA KITCHEN

Overlooking the Victoria Harbour, the Glasshouse by Asaya Kitchen offers a more intimate and elevated dining experience with its dedicated 5-course tasting menu curated by Chef Fabio Nompleggio. Expect a range of light and bright Mediterranean flavours menu. The current rotation emphasises on flavours suited to the summer heat.

3. BASIN

Taking its name from the lands surrounding the Mediterranean Sea and sharing the mild climate, Basin is inspired by the culinary traditions of French, Spanish and Italian cuisines, using only the freshest ingredients to interpret the famed healthy eating habits associated with the region. Ideated by industry veteran Erik Kirakozov, a Georgia-native who previously managed Pirata Group’s portfolio of restaurants, and Valencia-born chef Antoni Bernabeu.

4. THE BAYSIDE

Set against the panoramic backdrop of Victoria Harbour. A concept from Silver Oak Group, also behind notable names, Quiero Más and Gaylord. The Mediterranean-inspired menu that travels from Spain all though Greece, France and Italy. In the kitchen is head chef Javier Perez and executive chef Gary Batra.

5. BREEZE BISTRO

With the gentle sea breeze and the slight saltiness in the air, Breeze Bistro is bringing the Mediterranean experience to you. Using only the freshest organic ingredients, the menu is carefully constructed by their culinary team and services across brunch, lunch, and dinner. The bar menu features a wide variety of refreshing cocktails that compliment the food, ready to quench a thirst.
