Hong Kong has no shortage of ways to keep the whole family entertained this July and August. From immersive exhibitions and live shows to outdoor adventures and free cultural experiences, here are five highlights not to miss.
01. Design Ah! Experience The Wonder Of Everyday Design
M+’s latest family exhibition is a hands-on love letter to the ordinary objects we all take for granted — from chopsticks and toothbrushes to buses and traffic lights. Across 21 interactive stations packed with audiovisual installations and playful games, kids and grown-ups alike are invited to look at everyday design through a completely new lens. Inspired by the beloved Japanese educational TV programme Design Ah! neo, this one is particularly brilliant for curious, exploratory little minds. Head in early to beat the queues at the most popular stations.

02. Peppa Pig’s Fun Day Out!
Making its Hong Kong debut this August, Peppa Pig’s Fun Day Out! is a lively, interactive stage production that brings the whole Peppa gang — including George, Mummy Pig, Daddy Pig, Pedro Pony, Suzy Sheep and more — to life in front of young audiences. The adventure takes the crew to the zoo and the beach for a special party, complete with colourful scarecrows, penguin feeding and seaside splashing. Multiple show times are available across the three-day run, with VIP tickets including an exclusive post-show meet and greet.

03. MTR x Palace Museum Ancient Egypt
No museum ticket required for this one — Hong Kong’s MTR network has transformed into an immersive Ancient Egypt experience in collaboration with the Hong Kong Palace Museum. Giant pyramid photo spots, themed train carriages, hieroglyph interactives and a cast of adorable Pharaoh Cat characters are popping up across nine stations and malls citywide. It’s a clever way to bring history to life beyond gallery walls, and makes for a genuinely fun family adventure hopping between stations.

04. Ngong Ping Goes Neon — Summer Night Cable Car Rides
Ngong Ping 360 is offering something truly special this summer — eight exclusive evenings of after-dark cable car rides above Lantau Island. Families can spot glowing designs inside the cabins using mini UV flashlights, wander through Ngong Ping Village’s nostalgic neon-lit streets and enjoy live performances under the stars. It’s a fantastic alternative to the daytime heat, and the views after sunset make it well worth the trip out to Tung Chung.

05. Hong Kong Candlelight Concerts
For a magical family evening that swaps screens for something far more memorable, Hong Kong’s Candlelight Concerts are hard to beat. Held in some of the city’s most atmospheric venues — including The Repulse Bay Arcade and PMQ — talented musicians perform crowd-pleasing sets ranging from Taylor Swift and Coldplay to Vivaldi and beloved film soundtracks, all by the warm glow of thousands of flickering candles. A wonderful introduction to live music for older kids and teens, with most concerts recommended for ages 8 and up.
