HK’s Hidden Gems

Nest Property

While always a sucker for sipping on cocktails whilst admiring the ever impressive HK skyline, or people-watching on the bustling streets of Soho, there are times when we crave that little something out of the ordinary. Whether it’s pushing a secret button, sneaking around a curtain or lurking down a dim-lit alley, Hong Kong has plenty of speakeasies to liven up your Friday night. Here are some of HK’s best (or worst) kept secrets…

Foxglove/Frank’s Library

Behind the disguise of a boutique umbrella store lies one of Hong Kong’s best jazz clubs. Choose the right silver umbrella handle and go back in time with their 1950’s inspired decor and fabulous cocktails.
Sneak behind the red velvet curtain and choose the right (fake) elevator button and you’ll enter into Frank’s Library, a speakeasy within a speakeasy (say no more!)

Location: 18 Ice House Street, Central, +852 2116 8949

001

Hidden behind the vegetable stalls on Wellington street you’ll find a doorbell and a black door complete with absolutely zero signage of course, so press away and you can only hope it’s the right doorbell. Home to some of the greatest cocktails and possibly the best grilled cheese sandwich!

Location: 97 Wellington Street, Central, +852 2810 6969

I know John

But do you? We do, and we can tell you this classic speakeasy is the place to go for any whiskey lovers!

Location: 9F, 33 Wellington Street, Central, +852 2801 6555

Please Don’t Tell

Shh, we’re going to tell! Step inside the old school 1940’s inspired NY telephone box above MO bar within the Landmark Mandarin Oriental, hit number 1 on the keypad and voila, you’re in the sister speakeasy of the iconic NY PDT!

Location: The Landmark Mandarin Oriental, Central, +852 2132 0110

Ping Pong 129 Gintoneria

Nestled in the trendy neighbourhood Sai Ying Pun, it’s not often you find a spacious hang out. As an old ping pong hall this spot has just that and we guarantee you’ll find a gin perfect for your tastebuds.

Location: 129 Second Street, Sai Ying Pun, +852 9835 5061
