Eco-Friendly Dining in Hong Kong

Nest Property

It’s certainly nothing new that Hong Kong is behind the times when it comes to saving the planet. Whether it’s offering discounts for bringing your own container, saying no to single use plastic or repurposing food waste, these restaurants are all doing their bit to make Hong Kong’s dine out culture that little bit more eco-friendly!

Green

A restaurant that definitely lives up to its name! Based in Hotel ICON which has also announced that their entire hotel is going straw-free. Enjoy guilt-free dining here whilst taking in the beautiful surroundings of one of Asia’s largest vertical garden.

Location: Hotel ICON, 17 Science Museum Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, 3400 1300

Linguini Fini

A soho favourite taking some extra steps to help the environment. No more plastic take-away boxes, new metal straws and an in house composter (compost goes to Homegrown foods organic farms) makes Linguini Fini a sustainability saint!

Location: 49 Elgin Street, Central, 2387 6338

Uma Nota

We are big fans of this quirky Japanese-Brazilian and now we know how much they are doing to be eco-friendly we can enjoy the Uma Nota dining experience even more and take a sip of one of their delicious cocktails minus the plastic straw!

All of their take-away containers are made from recyclable materials and they even participate in quarterly beach clean ups #savetheturtles

Location: 38 Peel Street, Central, 2889 7576

Aqua

Whether enjoying the traditional Chinese cuisine at Hutong or just heading out for some drinks with a view at Aqua Tokyo, all of Aqua’s restaurants and bars have a no straw policy. If you’re worried about your lipstick then you’ll be pleased to hear that biodegradable straws are still available upon request.

Location: One Peking, 29-30F, Peking Rd, Tsim Sha Tsui, 3427 2288

Mana

A restaurant miles ahead of most in the race to save the planet. Mana operates a zero waste policy and there are some pretty great discounts for bringing your own containers too!

Location: 92 Wellington St, Central, 2851 1611

The Globe

It doesn’t take much persuading for a globe pie and pint and there’s even more reason to indulge in some pub grub now they have gone plastic straw free. They also have policies in place that charge extra for take-away containers.

Location: 45-53A Graham Street, Central, 2543 1941

Maximal Concepts

With favourites such as Blue, Limewood, Mott 32 and Brickhouse we are stoked to hear Maximal Concepts, a group well-known in the HK foodie scene, have gone plastic free. The only straws you’ll find in their restaurants will be metal or paper!
